Inside the studio: how a custom unit is made
A custom unit is built in stages, and each stage is a conversation. This is a walk through what happens between your first consultation and the day you collect a finished piece.
1. Consultation and measurements
We start by talking about how you want to wear your hair day to day, then take a full set of head measurements and note your hairline, parting preference and density. Nothing is ordered until these are agreed.
2. Choosing hair and cap construction
Hair texture, length and color are matched against swatches under natural light. The cap is chosen for the way you plan to wear the unit, from a full lace cap for versatile styling to a glueless construction for quick daily wear. You can browse the range on our custom wigs collection.
3. Ventilating and knotting
Hair is hand tied strand by strand into the lace. This is the slowest stage and the one that defines how natural the hairline looks, so it is never rushed.
4. Cut, color and fitting
Once the unit is built, it is cut and styled on you rather than on a block, so the shape suits your face. Small adjustments to the cap are made during the same visit.
5. Aftercare
You leave with written care notes and a plan for the first maintenance visit. Read more about the people behind the studio on our about page, or book a consultation to start your own unit.
