Glueless, grip band or adhesive: choosing an install method
How a unit stays on is as personal as how it looks. The right method depends on your scalp, how long you wear the unit each day and how often you want to take it off. Here is how we talk clients through the three options we offer in the studio.
Glueless caps
A glueless cap uses an adjustable band, combs and a snug fit at the nape. It is the easiest to remove at night and kind to sensitive skin. It suits anyone who takes a unit off daily and does not need a swept-back style at the hairline.
Grip bands
A velvet grip band sits under the cap and holds it in place without pins or glue. It adds security to a glueless unit, protects edges and works well for active days. Our velvet grip band is the one we fit at pickup.
Adhesive installs
Lace glue or tape gives the flattest hairline and allows high ponytails and slicked styles. Installs last one to two weeks and need careful removal with a dedicated solvent. We only recommend adhesive after a patch test and never over irritated skin.
Not sure which suits you? Our installation and styling service includes a short trial of each method before we secure the unit.
